When We Toy with Used Cars in Milan

Of all the places in the Mediterranean, Italy is one place you’d associate with pasta instead of gadgets. But the country is famous for its cars, and cars are gadgets in a sense, corretto? People do toy with cars as much as they do with tablet PCs.

Do you ever feel the need to toy with a used car in Milan - auto usate Milano ? If do, there’s Garage del Parco's website to check out. It's in Italian, so it's perfect! Looking at their website, Garage del Parco seems to be the place to go if you’re interested in toying with a used car for sale - vendita auto usate . Compro auto usate (Buying a used car) could not be easier with this site. The information given there is complete. It covers the entire process their cars undergo, from when they first enter the dealership to when a customer takes delivery.

Used car purchases are usually risky because the car’s history is unknown, as is the dealer’s integrity. At Garage del Parco, they’re very open about how they choose their cars. Each one undergoes a rigid selection process to ensure the customer’s satisfaction.

The red-hot color of the site is very Italian, and it’s what first caught my attention. But that’s just an appetizer. When I actually explored it, how thoroughly it describes each car impressed me.

It’s easy to navigate around the site. There’s a convenient row of buttons on the left, so you easily access the information you need.

There’s a wide variety of cars being offered, and there’s something for practically everyone. The site provides all the data you’d ever need on each one, from standard accessories, options installed, mileage, to how many owners it’s had. I especially like how each car comes with a complete photoset, from the exterior to the interior.

They also have photos of different areas of the dealership, as well as pictures of the owners and staff, with information on them. And there’s an interesting section on the history of the company. It’s a family-owned enterprise, started by their patriarch, Aldo Antonio, in the 60s. Then his son, Alexander, who grew up around cars, transformed his father’s old workshop into a modern dealership in 1978. His sister Manuela takes care of the accounting.

Taking a tour of this website is almost like taking a tour of the dealership. The photos are good, and the design of the site is attractive. At Garage del Parco, they pretty much have the answer to any question you’d need to ask about used cars.

MP3 Player Designed to Ease Pimples

Everyone seems to have an MP3 player so the gadget is no longer something to show off, except maybe if your MP3 player is unlike anything the others might have. One such MP3 player that qualifies for this quality is made in Japan and is curiously called the pimple player. It's the mpion and is really basically a simple MP3 player capable of holding only 128 megabytes of flash memory. It doesn't even have a display. What it does have is hidden at the back. You might not see anything fancy and interesting there, but it's there.

So what's at the back? It's something that you move over your face (supposedly while you play music) in order to help keep your skin pimple-free. Yes, it's strange but if it can really do what it's supposed to do to your skin, maybe it should be marketed as a pimple remover that plays MP3s instead of an MP3 player that removes pimples. It just says the back releases negative ions which are supposedly good for the skin. While it's not clear how the device is able to rid your face of pimples, it's still kind of appealing to have an MP3 player that releases negative ions.

If you want an MP3 player that's different, maybe this is something for you. But if you want something that really does your skin some good, just go to a dermatologist and ask for some advice.

MUJI Means Green Tech for Cardboard Speakers

These days, when it comes to gadgets, cool and slick may not necessarily cut it. Yes, green is in and if your gadget isn't friendly to the environment, it may not get the kind of attention or acclaim it needs that would translate to sales.

Green gadgets are coming out in all shapes and kinds. Here we have foldable cardboard speakers, which the manufacturer says have little electronic parts. When you order it, you will get it folded in a neat plastic package. By the looks of it, it's only the speaker enclosure that's cardboard. You can't expect to have the diaphragm holder and the magnets to be made of cardboard too you know. But that's okay.

For a change, the cardboard enclosure may give a new twist to your sounds and listening experience. Who knows, cardboard may even prove to be better than wood or metal in bringing out the bass from your tunes or surround sound system. These cardboard speakers are made and distributed in Japan. It follows the MUJI (no-brand goods) principle of using simple materials for technology products. MUJI is derived from the Japanese phrase mujirushi ryohin. With MUJI, simple things like paper is indeed popular for all sorts of stuff.

Motion Control is the Future of All Video Games

Everyone went wow, when they saw how entertaining the Nintendo Wii video game was. It was a new experience in videogaming which added another dimension to how the game is controlled. Who would have thought that moving your arms instead of just pushing buttons with your fingers is more entertaining and engrossing to more people? Well, it's a fact and other video game companies are following the Nintendo's example and have released their own version of motion controllers.

Microsoft has one that has a camera, a depth sensor, a microphone, and processor that allows it to track the motion of the body and that practically includes everything. It can even recognize the player's face and voice. Would you believe that it can also scan real world objects? And did we mention that it's also voice-activated? The Xbox machine now has a motion controller for games that allow users to paint with their hands and talk to an artificially-intelligent character called Milo. Sony, on the other hand came up with a wand-like device with a glowing end. It can transform into all manner of handheld weapons or game implements.

These new video controller technology may soon make the television screen obsolete in that the images from the video game may soon be directly fed to the eyes of the player via a visor worn like eyeglasses. This output device used to be a problem when the game is played using traditional controllers like the game pad, which required the user to look at it when playing.

How People Pick Popular Cars Like Vauxhalls at Perrys

We never outgrow our need to play. It’s easy to see how we substitute real automobiles for our toy cars as we grow up. Of course, toy cars are a lot more affordable and easier to buy than real cars. However, the task of looking for the best brand, model, and price to suit anyone’s automotive needs should really be as easy as picking a toy car.

Perrys is one veteran company in England that provides an online interactive take on car search, selection, and purchases. It’s particularly known through customer word-of-mouth testimonial as a Vauxhall dealer where one can choose the vehicle-of-choice quickly through its interactive website.

Perry’s clients have access to the official website’s interface without the need to log in. Among the consistent search favorites are the ever-popular mini, the Vauxhall Corsa, and the robust yet elegant Vauxhall Insignia. Purchase details are made available with the click of the mouse. This ease of access is viewed as the reason why Perrys manages to expedite incoming orders, particularly for bestselling Vauxhall models.

Perrys has dealerships in key locations in the U.K. Old and new models of brands of interest like Vauxhall can be found by buyers with the Car, Dealership, and Hot Deals Search features of the website. Navigation is provided by a tabbed layout that identifies, selects, and displays the pages available. To keep clients and customers up to date on the latest offers, Perrys gives the option to subscribe to an online newsletter.

The notable contents of the site include the milestones which are accessible in the About Us page which is also where the history of Perrys may be viewed. The company shows how it has built the business and changed with the times with over a hundred years of experience in the automobile industry.

DID YOU KNOW?

This Vauxhall concept car, called the Flextreme, takes the design sensibilities of Vauxhall to new extremes. It's totally the future of cars not only in how it's made to be compact and spacious - but underneath the hood itself - with an extended-range electric vehicle technology system that gets its power from a lithium-ion battery. Coupled with a 1.3 turbo-diesel onboard engine, this is a car that truly extends the typical hybrid range to extremes. It's been given in 2008 with the prestigious international Red Dot Design Singapore Award. This is one toy gadget we would find hard to outgrow.

This Pen Lets You Pick Colors

If you've used a handy tool in a graphics-rendering software that can pick color (the Pick Color Tool), then you know how useful it is in drawing pictures. But that's when using the computer. What if that Pick Color tool is integrated in a real pen that you can hold in your hand? Wouldn't that be a cool product of technology?

There's this new gadget still under technological development that allows a user to pick any color by placing the tip on a surface that has color and it automatically mixes colors inside of it to produce the color it has scanned. It's a pen set inside a single pen! You may want one, but it may take some time as this pen may need to be thick to store everything that it needs to deliver what it promises.

This Lunchbox Is Also a USB Drive and it Heats Your Food Too

If there's a distinct information gadget trend in the first decade of the 21st century, it would be that things are turning into USB drives. We have USB drive lighter, USB drive pens, USB drive watches - you name it. Would you believe there is even a USB lunchbox now? Everyone who uses a computer should have one of these technology devices.

Yes, in Japan, you can plug in this special USB lunchbox (or more appropriately, lunchbag) and you get to heat your food for lunch (although it's hard to imagine how USB can do that). It's compact, durable, and is prefect for yoru office desk. One drawback though is that lunchboxes and desktop computers do not mix. But as most employees are hard-headed and usually break rules, you have to make sure you don't spill anything on your keyboard or your boss might opt to ban the device for good no matter how useful it is.

Electronic Sensing Skin Jewelry to Revolutionize Fashion

Traditionally, jewelry is worn around our neck, wrists, waist, head, or ankles. Lately, piercings became popular even though this is an old culturally-specific practice. Lately, fashion jewelry have been going electronic owing to miniaturization technologies. Yes, we've seen rings that light up or change color to make for a more catchy effect.

Now, the Philips company is pioneering on technology that allows jewelry to be worn directly on the skin and to respond to a person's emotional state. It's called Electronic Sensing Skin Jewelry and it's seen to revolutionize fashion. This new line of jewelry came to be in line with the STELLA project in which "stretchable, flexible electronic substrates that integrate energy supply, sensors, actuators, and display" are made.

According to Philips, the new products are designed to take forms that are "playful, sensual, mood affected, bio activity stimulated, and arousal enhancing." You can imagine the potential of these products in doing things to your body you have never thought was possible before with ordinary jewelry. The project developers also say that the products are "semi disposable, bio compatible, non-allergenic, breathable, mass customizable, self contained body worn accessory." It's been branded as Skintile and should be a good complement to other body adornment and art.

A Bicycle with Two Legs Instead of Wheels

Can you imagine riding a bicycle with two walking legs instead of wheels? It's hard, yes, but you don't have to try anymore because there is such a robotic device. It's made by Honda and is based on advanced robotics technology.

Designed to help workers in factories to move, it has also been touted as a boon for the weak and the elderly who find it difficult to climb stairs or even to walk. The device works by putting the seat between your legs and your feet into the built-in shoes. You then sit comfortably while the robot enhances your walking movements.

Reporters who tried the new device said it took some getting used to but they saw how useful the invention was. In a video demonstration, the device was shown worn by employees in a car assembly line checking the undercarriage of vehicles in production. It really is a cool way to move about while sitting down. I think an accessory desk will also work for it. That way, you're boss will never find you away from your desk goofing around.

Japanese Engineers Toy with Maid Robots and Gundam

There's a trend with robots being made in Japan these days. Apparently, the Japanese see a need for robots that can assist people, particularly the elderly and the disabled. A number of maid robot models have been designed and made that can do a number of household chores, like the laundry, and floor vacuuming. One of these models was even made to resemble the cartoon robot Gundam (left), but of course, it only comes with domestic-use technology.

One of the later models is this more generic-looking maid robot (top), which also serves as a conveyor of household stuff like a television set (it has a platform as its behind). The picture shows it picking up a tray. It can also operate a washing machine. But maybe it would have been better if it comes with its own washing machine?

Anyway, maid robots are one thing, but there's also another fascination for Gundam, as you can see here. Bandai decided to make one as tall as a person (second, left) complete with movable joints, flashing lights, sound effects, and a real anime girl to boot (is she a robot too?)! It's your ultimate toy. Too bad it's not designed to be worn.

If a human-sized Gundam robot isn't enough for you, here's one (bottom) that's big enough to fight invading aliens from outer space and protect the Earth. Who knows. maybe in the near future, Japanese engineers would try to make a real Gundam Earth "defense" robot.

Have you ever wondered how a Gundam robot would look like if it's transparent? Well, this toy below may be able to help. It's a "clear" Gundam that's see-through in all respects! Get it before it vanishes forever!

Shower Radio - Finally There is a Good One

by H. Y. Wong

A shower radio is one of those useful bathroom gadgets that many people would be pleased to have. You can listen to weather and traffic news while taking a warm shower first thing in the morning, so that you know what to expect on your way to the office. After a hard day's work, you can tune into your favorite jazz music station while having a relaxing bath. It just makes your showering and bathing experience so much more enjoyable.

The most important quality of a radio intended for bathroom use is that it has to be waterproof. Most ordinary radios will not be able to endure the humid environment of a bathroom, let alone survive an accidental drop into a bath tub filled with water. This is why shower radios have to be specially designed.

There are many shower radios on the market. Unfortunately, according to user reviews, most of these radios suffer from one or more of the following problems: shoddy construction, cheap materials, inadequate water insulation, lack of durability, poor signal reception and low sound quality. In particular, many users complain of difficulties tuning into their favorite stations. A lot of these radios have poor antennas and thus are unable to receive as many AM/FM channels as ordinary radios. And even if they do, the reception is often fuzzy and intermittent. This problem is often made worse by cheap loudspeakers that play hollow and tinny sounds.

It seems that many manufacturers have not got serious with designing and manufacturing radios designed for the bathroom. The end result is that shower radios are often perceived as inherently low quality products.

Fortunately this is not always true. The good news is that there are good ones around, though they are few and far between. One of them is the Sangean H201. There are many good things to be said about this radio but four main ones are: excellent AM/FM radio reception, crystal clear sound, tough water resistance and high build quality. It is a cut above other similar products on the market. From consumer reviews, the Sangean H201 has shown that it can tune into stations that other shower radios have difficulty receiving, and that its sound quality is excellent with hardly any distortion even at high volumes. Its solid, sturdy, high quality construction also impresses many users. Furthermore it comes with other useful features like 10 station presets, LCD display, clock, timers and two mounting options.

With the Sangean H201, you will now be able to truly enjoy high quality radio broadcasts while taking a shower or having a bath.

Pinhole Glasses Now Used for Correcting Acquired Myopia in Children

Half the population of the United States suffer from myopia. This means that 50 percent need to use corrective glasses, but not all may wish to or are able to due to a number of reasons. Kids, for example, may find wearing glasses embarrassing, tedious, and unwieldy. But more often than not, refractive eye problems in children can be fixed by wearing corrective glasses for a period of time. However, prescription glasses may not always be necessary as pinhole eyeglasses can be used as substitutes.

We all know how kids like to play make believe. They make paper visors worn with rubber bands behind the ears and pretend to be super heroes. They're able to see through tiny pinholes in the visor. I'm sure many of you reading this know what I'm talking about, and if you're nearsighted, you also know how your blurred vision "disappears" while looking through the little holes in the visor. In other words, you are able to see! It's really a fact of science sages have pondered upon for thousands of years.

I've always wondered why no one has made those "pinhole glasses" and sold them. I didn't realize until lately that they're now all over the Internet! A little searching led me to this site called Pinhole Glasses Direct which is all about pinhole eyeglasses. I found it easily navigable with the menu tabs below the header, so I checked out the contents. What I found particularly interesting is the page which explained why users of prescription glasses are switching to pinhole glasses.

As a user of prescription glasses, I wanted to know how commercial pinhole glasses compare and how these can be used as an alternative. Like many of you out there, I know how frustrating it can be when glasses get loose screws, cracked, shattered, warped, and outgrown. I wanted to know if other people with vision problems - particularly acquired myopia, can also find them useful. I know pinhole glasses work, but will people actually wear them?

The contents of the site pretty much explained everything from the perspective of science - from how pinhole glasses work to improve vision to how pinhole glasses can cure acquired myopia - which is very important since many children suffer from this condition and most cases are easily corrected. The site says pinhole glasses are the one solution to many eye problems. It specifically indicates how the product can prevent the onset of acquired myopia and gives excerpts on research studies with accompanying reference sources.

Pinhole Glasses Direct offers a single model of pinhole glasses. Each pinhole "lens" is laser-holed and of a typical black color. These are set in a white frame. The design makes it ideal for general indoor or outdoor use and should be suitable for both adults and children as long as the standard size fits.

USS Enterprise NCC-1701 Flying RC Model Applauded by Fans

It's true. Every fan of Star Trek dreams of having a real Starship Enterprise built and flown. Well, it may still be a bit far from reality, but there's this next best thing. It looks like the Enterprise, it flies, and you are the captain! It's a sturdy foam toy replica of the original USS Enterprise NCC-1701 and it flies! It also comes with an RC-controller that looks like Captain Kirk's classic communicator.

Every fan (and even non-fan) of the series and movies will love to get their hands on this toy and it's likely they'll buy two - one for flying and the other for safekeeping. Who would have thought that the saucer-design chosen by Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry can actually be made to fly? Make it a little larger with the right engineering and aerodynamics and who knows, maybe fans will soon be taking a ride in one at 30,000 feet!

Flashlight Powerful Enough to Cook Your Skin Built by Hobbyist

A flashlight, or torch, as they call it in Europe, is used to help you see things in the dark. It was never meant to cook your skin (or your dog while walking him) with ultraviolet radiation, but that's exactly what this big homemade flashlight does (without the protective shielding). It's made by Dutch light hobbyist and optics engineer Ralf Ottow.

Ottow, used an ordinary flashlight casing and outfitted it with a mercury arc lamp, the kind where a tiny but powerful electric arc jumps between two electrodes to produce light, heat, and ultraviolet radiation. In fact, it is so powerful, it can literally give the user sunburn - which is why Otto added shielding to keep the UV radiation contained after he himself paid with the effects of unprotected tests - resulting in sunburns. Some say it could be used as a weapon.

Ottow's flashlight which has been called the Maxablaster (or Maxblaster), is carried around like a suitcase and can light up clouds at night. It's pretty useful in the dark when looking for objects 4 miles away. Don't bother to bring your dog along.

If Ottow's flashlight reminds you of a Star Wars lightsaber, then you'd most likely be also interested in this flashlight (below). It's really a lightsaber prop replica that plays a power up and power down sound effect used in the movies when switched on and off. Don't worry, it won't burn you with damaging rays because it uses only LED lightbulbs.

3-D Entertainment within Your Reach at Home

3-D (or 3D) movies is the in thing in the 21st century. Who wouldn't want to watch a movie where the scene in front of you is seemingly real enough to grab? Yes, it's what's giving theater-release movies the crowd draw amidst rampant optical media piracy. After all, 3-D is something that you can only experience to the fullest in moviehouses and with the right equipment - like polarizing 3-D glasses.

But the at-home-movie-watching experience may not be far behind when it comes to enjoying 3-D. New technology now brings 3-D into your television at home, particularly with digital light processing (DLP) high definition viewing systems.

The 3-D DLP television system was first introduced in 2007. Just like in a 3-D movie, this displays two images - one for the left eye and another for the right one. They are combined for the viewer with special shutter glasses which are part of the synchronization process. Of course, you would still need graphics or video source content that's compatible with the format.

The Inada RoboChair Massage Chair - Be Afraid, Very Afraid

by Robin OBrien

Robotic massage chairs seem to entering the realms of science-fiction; they look like they belong on the bridge of the starship Enterprise, come with technical gadgets you need a PhD to even begin to use and just look darn scary to me. The Inada RoboChair massage recliner is probably the meanest, scariest mother of them all - a machine that is only for the bravest or foolhardy of souls.

But in all seriousness, the Inada RoboChair is one serious chair and is perhaps the most technically advanced on the market place. This isn't surprising as Inada are the accepted leaders and just about every new advance in this industry came from its laboratory is Osaka, Japan. The history of the robotic massage chair is the history of Inada - or should that be the other way round?

I wasn't kidding when I said the chair scared me. The footrests, arm cuffs and control panel make the chair look as though it was solely constructed as a torture device, but maybe that's what massage is anyway?

When you first sit in the chair you start to feel powerless as your legs and arms are locked down. A feeling of panic sets in as the chair stirs to life, scanning your body with optical sensors. It really does this before each massage; the infrared sensors determine your acupressure points along the length of your back and then compare your profile to 100 stored profiles. The chair matches your profile to the 'best-fit' stored profile to provide you with a totally customized massage. Apparently in order for any chair to be a true shiatsu massage chair it should be able to detect body shape and find your acupressure points and automatically adjust the rollers.

The chair then goes into one of its many routines that are preset or manual - I don't remember which one as I was to busy trying to stay composed in the vice like grip of the chair, a composure that was sorely tested as the chair began to recline.

The massage I received was very robust; not an inch of the length of my body was spared. I was told this was thanks to the Full Contact armrest, Full Contact footrest and Full Contact back.

Anyhow, just after promising myself that I would never, ever sit in a robotic massage chair again, I was told about its voice activated control system. It's what? I said. I was then shown the microphone that is positioned to one side of the headrest; I'd seen the device earlier but I was too afraid to ask what it was. The person demonstrating the chair positioned the microphone in place - my arms were still locked down - and began to explain to me how it worked.

The voice activation system allows you to change various things like the recline angle and roller programs, and activation of the kneading and tapping programs by simple word commands. Incredible! Suddenly, I was the one in charge. The RoboChair wasn't a menacing Rottweiler after all, but a little, fawning lapdog, who obediently obeyed my every command.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing about with the voice control and forgot all about my earlier trepidations, so much so that I thought I would like to buy the Inada massage chair. I was then told its price tag of $7,500. Gosh. Its price was the scariest thing about the RoboChair. I made good my escape.

Indoor Plants Love LED Grow Lights

by Imran Ali

LED grow lights are a must for any avid indoor plant grower. Indoor plants are usually very sensitive and require careful and controlled indoor lighting. In the world of indoor plant growing, it has long been a standard to light plants with conventional bulbs in well air-conditioned or ventilated rooms. However, with the spread of LED light bulbs into the lighting industry there are now better ways to energize your plants. But what exactly are the advantages of LED grow lights over regular incandescent light bulbs?

Targeted light frequencies

Light is made up of different frequencies, which each produce a certain color depending on the frequency. When you see a rainbow in the sky, it is "white" light being separated into its different frequencies by droplets of moisture in the sky.

Plants absorb only certain frequencies of light, and what it does not need is reflected away. For example, the molecules in leaves does not absorb green light, and so the green light is reflected away which is why we perceive leaves to be green.

LED grow lights are able to emit light that contains only the range of frequencies that plants can absorb. This allows you to use you electricity more efficiently to produce only what you need.

Low heat

Typical plant lights are usually hot. Just like any other incandescent bulb, heat builds up after a while and can be felt even at a distance. This heat is harmful to plants, and can stunt their growth or even kill them if it's too hot. One solution to this is to air-condition the room or add vents to reduce the heat. However, both these methods can be expensive.

With LED grow lights the bulbs will not get hot. At the most, bulbs will become slightly warm to the touch, even after being on for several hours. This is a significant advantage over incandescent bulbs because it allows you to protect your plants from heat and at the same time help you save on electricity.

Low voltage

LED's are low voltage and require less than 20 volts of electricity, which much less than incandescent bulbs. This is another aspect of LED's that can help reduce your electricity costs.

No ballast required

Mounting systems for LED grow lights are usually much lighter than conventional systems. This is because a ballast is usually required for incandescent systems, which is extremely heavy. Furthermore, ballast need to be replaced after some time, which will add to your expenses. With LED grow lights, not requiring a ballast will provide you with a more functional and lighter system, and will save you some extra cash.

Longer life

LED bulbs last considerably longer than regular bulbs. LED bulbs have a life of approximately 100,000 hours. This is almost 50 times longer than conventional light bulbs. Not only that, but regular light bulbs need to be changed even before they die because as the bulb ages the light spectrum changes. With LED bulbs, the light spectrum remains constant throughout their lifetime.

No reflector necessary

For traditional bulbs, light is emitted in all directions. In order to focus the light, a reflector is needed. Reflectors are often bulky and heavy, and will also add on to your expenses. With LED bulbs, the light is already focused in the proper direction, because reflectors are already built into the bulbs themselves.

Knowing these main advantages, it is easy to see why LED grow lights are superior to conventional bulbs. They provide better light, use less electricity, and require less equipment to run. If you are interested in learning more about LED lights, there are many great websites out there that can provide you with all technical information you need.
